7 Easy Ways to be a Happier Mom
Lets face it, most of us don't sleep as long as we should. But if we don't get enough sleep, we're missing out on feeling refreshed. There are a tiny few that can thrive on less than 7 hours of sleep a night, but for most of us studies show that lack of sleep will stand in the way of your daily happiness. Get those zzzz's!
2. Admit when you're stressed
Is the house dirty? Yep. Are the boys trying to wrestle each other? Mmhm. Is the house volume on 50? You bet! Did you get anything done today?? Sure doesn't seem like it! I've found that once I stopped expecting Motherhood to always feel all warm and fuzzy, my stress levels went down. The crazy almost seems funny + normal and you realize so many people have been there. It gets easier.
3. Have you time
You need time to yourself! I literally schedule this for at least once a week if not more whenever possible. I feel like I'm a better mom when I come back from "me time". Sometimes I go to the gym or go shopping. And sometimes I go through the Chik-fil-a drive thru and sit in the quiet car to eat it alone 😁
4. Savor the moments
After Jordan and London go to school, sometimes I get back in bed with Leo and read for an hour. These moments are so precious and I want to always remember them.
5. Reconsider your priorities
I've had to do this quite a few times as a recovering perfectionist. Some things that are high on my list of things that HAVE to be done really don't matter at the end of the day. Sometimes doing something I actually enjoy is more important than doing laundry.
6. Encourage other moms
It's nice to have encouragement from friends and family around you. Encourage a mom or parent that might be having a hard week. It makes them feel good and it'll make you feel even better.
7. Listen to them laugh
Nothing makes me smile bigger than hearing the boys' laugh! I'm positive hearing a child's laugh could turn anyone's day around! 🖤
